Do You Recognize That Building?

Take a look at the picture at the top of the page. Is that the SMHS you remember? Perhaps you've driven by and done a double-take at how much the school has changed. Or maybe you're seeing the changes for the first time in the image before. Either way, there's no denying the school has a look that's very different from the one we're familiar with from our own high school days. The biggest change to my mind is the appearance of a second story. It wasn't until later in life--well after graduation--that I realized many high schools were much larger than the one we went to and that second stories were common in school buildings. Up until then, I had thought single stories and open hallways were the norm. What about you? When you look back on our old school buildings, what do you think was unique?

Come to Our Speed Dating Event

If the rumors I've heard about our 10th Anniversary Reunion are true, our 30th Anniversary Reunion has the potential to be the ultimate speed dating event. Some of you are single, right? Come to the reunion and you just might reacquaint yourself with someone whose company you'll enjoy long into the future! The reunion committee has its own example of a successful SMHS pairing in married alums Susannah Carver Howard and Pat Howard. For those of you who are also happily partnered, do remember to bring your significant other to the reunion. We're hoping to see lots of couples at the event. This is a time for catching up, so bring the person you share your life with to the reunion. We want to meet him or her!

Get in the Spirit of '82

No matter who you were in high school or who you are now, there's no getting around the fact that lots of time has passed since 1982. Get back into the spirit of 1982 with this video of one of the hit songs of that year, Joan Jett & the Blackheart's "I Love Rock N Roll."

The 30th reunion for the San Marino High School Class of 1982 will be the weekend of 21-23 September, 2012.

We are still in the initial planning stages, but all ideas are welcome!
